Clarion University–Venango Campus Professor Appointed to Tenure-Track Position

Professor Renee Bloom has been appointed Chair of Clarion University’s Department of Allied Health in the School of Nursing and Allied Health, which is located at the Venango Campus. She has been appointed to a new tenure-track position, reflecting the university’s commitment to the future growth and development of the department.

Professor Bloom was hired in January, 2005, to lead the new Allied Health Department that was created when the School of Nursing was reorganized in 2004. That reorganization was initiated in response to the expansion of the radiologic sciences program and the development of the respiratory care program, which was launched in fall 2006 in partnership with UPMC Northwest and UPMC Horizon.  An associate degree in allied health is also offered, and new degrees are in the development stage.

Professor Bloom came to Clarion University from Ohio Valley General Hospital in McKees Rocks, where she served as Director of the School of Radiography.

Professor Bloom began her clinical training at ACMH School of Radiologic Technology in Kittanning, where she was awarded the D.W. Minteer Award for Academic Excellence. She earned her bachelor’s degree in radiologic science from LaRoche College and her master’s degree in health science from Slippery Rock University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Administration and Leadership Studies at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Bloom is a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, and the Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologists. She serves on the board of directors of the Northwest Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center and is the Student Bowl Chair of Tri-State Educators in Radiologic Technology.
