OIL CITY, PA – Clarion University–Venango Campus
has hired Emily S. Aubele as its new Director of Student Affairs. Aubele has
more than 10 years experience in higher education, and most recently managed all
the educational and recreational programming for 5,200 residential students at
the University of Pittsburgh, Oakland Campus. In her new position, Aubele will
supervise Venango Campus’ out-of-class programs and services including the
Learning Support Center, Career Center, Office of Student Activities, student
organizations, and the Robert W. Rhoades Student Center. She will develop and
enhance student programming, cultural activities, and oversee the coordination
of residential life programs associated with the campus’ new student apartment
housing.
“Emily Aubele brings seasoned experience,
vision, leadership and enthusiasm for student development to this position, and
we’re thrilled to have her join our team,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber,
executive dean of Clarion University–Venango Campus.
Aubele has conducted numerous workshops and
presentations, developed course curricula and overseen the planning of new and
renovated student residential housing.
“This is a very exciting time for Venango
Campus,” said Aubele, who has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Westminster
College, a Master of Education from Kent State University and is currently
completing a Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh. “The diversity of our
students in terms of age, life experience and interests, not to mention the
on-campus population that will arrive in the fall, provides unique challenges
and opportunities. I’m excited to be able to work with a great group of students
and colleagues to create interesting, innovative programming.”
Aubele, whose family has kept a cabin in the
area for years, already serves on the board of the local American Red Cross
chapter and the Oil City Arts Council. She was extensively involved with arts
and community organizations while working in Pittsburgh and has served on a
variety of committees to promote cultural diversity, women’s issues, cultural
arts and alcohol awareness among students.
Clarion University–Venango Campus provides
high-quality educational programs and personalized services to help students
succeed. Students can earn an associate degree, a bachelor’s or master’s degree
in select areas, obtain a one-year certificate or participate in a variety of
professional development and personal enrichment courses. The campus is home to
Clarion University’s School of Nursing and its Department of Applied Technology.
