Adult Learners from Clarion University–Venango
Campus
To Participate in National Conference
OIL CITY, PA – The Adult
Learner’s Organization (ALO) at Clarion University–Venango Campus will be
attending the National Adult Learner’s Conference October 10 through October 12,
2003, at Penn State University in Mont Alto, PA. Darlene Hartman, a Venango
Campus ALO advisor and coordinator of the campus’ Learning Support Center, will
be presenting a workshop at the conference entitled “A Noteworthy Way to Grow
Academically”.
The Adult Learner’s
Organization is a group of adult students who provide social and emotional
support to all the students at Venango Campus. The only
requirement to participate in ALO is that a member be a student at Venango
Campus.
Other workshops for
students to attend include: “Ageism in the World of Technology”; “Marketing Your
Campus and Community Involvement to Employers”; “Serving Adult Learners of
Color”; “What Do You Want?”; “Customizing the Classroom for Non-Traditional
Students”; “The Power of E-Portfolios”; “Beginning Again: Three Diverse
Perspectives”; “The “Super Mom” Myth”; “A Unique and Workable First Year Seminar
for Adult Learners”; and “Where Do We Fit In?”
Following the
conference on Sunday, all those attending from the Venango Campus will tour the
Dwight D. Eisenhower farm in Gettysburg, which served as a weekend retreat for
the former President.
