Returning Adults May Benefit from Grant Program
at Clarion University–Venango Campus
Returning adult students are the
fastest-growing population on college campuses today, but few qualify for
student aid programs. In response, Clarion University–Venango Campus is
now administering the Workforce Advancement Grant for Education (WAGE)
program, launched by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA).
“Non-traditional students face
particular challenges in pursuing higher education,” said Ms. Emily
Aubele, director of student affairs at the Venango Campus. “Not only are
they juggling jobs, families, and school, but they face financial
constraints that might prevent them from earning degrees and achieving
their career goals. As many of them must attend classes on a part-time
basis, they have been, until now, unable to qualify for financial aid. My
colleagues and I are pleased that these funds are now available and are
happy to work with students to help them with their applications.”
For more information about this
program and eligibility requirements, please contact Latrobe Barnitz,
coordinator of admissions and financial aid, at 676-6591, ext. 1211.
