Welcome to the Clarion University Pittsburgh Site

The Clarion University Pittsburgh Site is affiliated with and located in the Western Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing (WPHSON) at 4900 Friendship Avenue in the Bloomfield section of Pittsburgh.

Registered Nursing Program:

The Pittsburgh Site, through Clarion University’s Office of Extended Programs, offers 30 college level credits in courses required in West Penn’s School of Nursing two year Diploma Program. While West Penn nursing students are working towards their diploma in nursing, they have an opportunity to concurrently earn an Associate of Science Degree in Allied Health (ASAH) from Clarion University by completing their general education courses work through Clarion University.

Advanced Degrees in Nursing Programs:  

The ASAH degree program provides a stepping stone for WPHSON graduates to easily transition into Clarion University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) program available fully on-line.  Nurses can further advance their professional careers by obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing degree at the Pittsburgh Site through Clarion University's collaborative program with Edinboro and Slippery Rock Universities.

Our Commitment

All Clarion courses, advising, textbook sales and student services are provided at the Pittsburgh Site by a dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to students’ success. Additionally, WPHSON and the Clarion University Pittsburgh Site co-sponsor a four day academic and social enrichment program for new students entering the program.  During fall term, WPHSON and Clarion University Pittsburgh Site hold “Family Night” at the School of Nursing.  This is an evening where students can dine with their families, (at no cost), meet other students, faculty and staff and tour the school and classrooms.
