                Master of Education Degree in Curriculum & Instruction

This will be a Masters program designed for the practicing education professional, those interested in an advanced education degree or for those individuals with education degrees interested in furthering their knowledge base. This is a program with an exciting and innovative approach geared to accommodate the stresses and strains encountered by today’s professional educator.

This 30 credit 10 course degree can be completed in less than three years while maintaining a full work and family schedule. Each participant may also chose one of three exit options for program completion; a traditional thesis option, exit testing option or portfolio presentation.

Delivery Mode – All courses will be taught as a”blended” combination of on-line and traditional classroom instruction. Students and professors will meet for five sessions of three hours each spread throughout each semester.The rest of the course requirements will be fulfilled with on-line activities. The core courses will be taught during the fall and spring semesters over a two year period with one course each semester. Electives will be offered on a flexible schedule with two three credit courses taught each summer over two summers and one course each semester during the last year of the program.

Tuition Cost – This is the most exciting part of the program. Since we are able to partner with local educational entities we are able to offer this program at a very substantial savings. First there are NO FEES. Second the tuition has a built in discount that is significant. Overall there is nearly a 40% reduction in both tuition and fees. The current total charge for all new cohorts will be $910 for each three credit course

 Transfer Policy -  Courses transferred must be certified as graduate level on the transcript and must have a grade of  “B” or better. Up to 10 credits may be transferred under this policy.

Admission Requirements - The following items must be present for admission to the program

1. A baccalaureate degree form an acceptably accredited college or university

2. Undergraduate minimum OPA of 3.0 or above (in a 4.0 scale)

3. The applicant must have teacher certification

Applicants that do not meet the QPA 3.0 requirement may be granted provisional program status at the discretion of the graduate faculty. Regular status will be granted if the student maintains a 3.0 QPA in 12 graduate credits.

Admission Process – All Clarion University graduate students must complete the following steps for admission

1. A completed application form

2. Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended

3. Three current professional recommendations on Clarion University forms that should document applicant’s potential and/or effectiveness in the areas of teaching ability and/or professional performance.

4. A resume

5. A $30 application fee
