Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies Online Degree Program
 

The Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies degree is a 120-credit program that enables students to explore a range of academic skills and disciplines in an online environment. Here, you can create your own major in an area of interest as you gain liberal knowledge that will serve you well for a lifetime.

 

General Education Requirements

I. Liberal Education Skills (12 credits)

  1. English Composition  (3 credits)
  2. Mathematics  (3 credits)
  3. Additional courses  (6 credits)

II. Liberal Knowledge

  1. Physical and Biological Science (9 credits)
  2. Social and Behavioral Sciences (9 credits)
  3. Arts and Humanities (9 credits)

III. Health and Personal Performance (3 credits)

IV. General Education Electives (to total 48 credits)

 

Program of study

 

In addition to the general education classes, the student and faculty advisor will design a personalized program of 48 credits in Arts and Sciences.  This program must include at least 39 credits at the upper division level (normally 300 level or above) with no more than 39 credits in any one department.

 

As part of the program of student the student may elect, but is not required, to pursue an area of concentration.  The current available concentration is detailed below.  Other online concentrations are under development.

In all programs, students will work with an advisor to identify courses that will optimize their learning experience. The number of elective courses will vary by student, depending on the number of transfer courses accepted by the university; however, at a minimum each student is required to complete a minimum of 45 hours (of the 120 required for an undergraduate degree) at Clarion University for an undergraduate degree.
