The TRIO Upward Bound Program operates a six-week Summer Academy every year on the campus of Clarion University. Current participants are able to apply for the opportunity to be a part of this unique experience in which they live on campus, eat in the campus dining hall, take classes in the university classrooms that prepare them for their next year's high school schedule, and spend time exploring various career, college, and financial resources to plan for their future.
The Summer Academy usually begins the third week of June and commences the end of the July, running six weeks. A culminating event includes a cultural trip including campus visits. Previous destinations include: Boston, Chicago, Maryland, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
Upward Bound participates in the Summer Food Services Program through Pennsylvania and The U.S. Department of Agriculture.
