Strategic Directions

PennWest Clarion adopted new mission and vision statements, as well as affirmed our core values in the spring of 2012. In addition, in June 2017, the university approved to extend the university strategic plans to the year 2020. We intentionally realigned our efforts with the State System Strategic Plan to ensure success. The University and System Strategic Planning is below.

PennWest Clarion STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS

Mission:  PennWest Clarion provides transformative, lifelong learning opportunities through innovative, nationally recognized programs delivered in inclusive, student-centered environments.

Vision:  PennWest Clarion will be a leader in high-impact educational practices that benefit students, employers and community partners.

Core Values:  Students, faculty, staff and alumni of PennWest Clarion value learning, accomplishment, encouragement, diversity, civility, civic engagement and public higher education.

Core Attributes of PennWest Clarion:  Core attributes define the fundamental characteristics of PennWest Clarion, shared by all students, faculty and staff.  Through our attributes, we tell others who we are as an institution.

Reasons to Believe in PennWest Clarion:  While attributes define PennWest Clarion, our actions provide individuals and organizations with reasons to invest their time, energy and resources at the institution.  These actions are the basis for students, employers, and community partners to believe in PennWest Clarion.

Defining PennWest Clarion as a Publicly Engaged Institution:  Public engagement describes the numerous ways in which the work and expertise of PennWest Clarion's employees and students can be shared with the public with the goal of generating mutual benefit.
