Safe Computing - Beware of Imitation Sites

Scammers will try to get you to go to web sites that look legitimate, but are actually traps.  You should always verify the authenticity of the web sites you visit, particularly banking and credit card web sites.  This also applied to the iClarion portal and the Password Change web page.

Here's how you can make sure these sites are not imitations:

  1. Verify the URL
When you login to the iClarion Portal, the URL line at the top of your web browser should only show  "https://iclarion.clarion.edu/cp/home/displaylogin".  If it does not then DO NOT ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD!
    iclarion-url

When you go to the Password Change Web Page, the URL at the top of your web browser should only show  "https://mars.clarion.edu/password/".  If it does not then DO NOT ENTER YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD!

  2. Check for the lock symbol ssl-lock
A lock symbol should be displayed next to the URL at the top of your browser.  You should click on the lock symbol to verify the authenticity of the web site.
  3. Check the GeoTrust logo
If the site has a "Verified by GeoTrust" logo (like the iClarion Portal and the Password Change web page) it should display the current date and time.  You should click on the logo to verify the authenticity of the web site.
