Clarion University-Venango Campus will host the second of two satellite seminar presentations on Monday, November 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the Robert W. Rhoades Center Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
Dr. Raquel Pinderhughes, director of the San Francisco State University/Delancey Street College Program, an innovative program that provides ex-felons and drug addicts with an opportunity to pursue a college education, will present "Pathways out of Poverty through Green Collar Jobs: The Role of Scholarship in Improving Quality of Life for Urban Residents." Author of Alternative Urban Futures: Planning for Sustainable Development in Cities throughout the World, based on a lecture about ways to improve the quality of life for urban residents, Dr. Pinderhughes is an expert on "green collar jobs," a term she coined in 2004 to describe manual labor jobs related to improvements in environmental quality.
The Satellite Seminar Series, sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, are DVD presentations of previously broadcast live seminars. A discussion following the presentation will be facilitated by Clarion faculty members or a member of the local community.
