Self-Assessment Tools

The Department of Counseling Services, located in 148 Egbert, provides several self-assessment tools that allow you to survey your interests, values, abilities, and personality; and then relate them to occupations and career fields.

It is beneficial to talk with a counselor after taking an assessment so he/she can help you interpret the results of your assessment and can suggest additional resources for researching possible majors and/or occupations. Contact the department at 814-393-2255 to schedule an appointment

  • e-Discover
    An online program that can help you identify interests, values, and abilities; explore careers; and research occupations and majors. You can complete the assessment from any computer, but you must contact Counseling Services at 814-393-2255 for a user I.D. number.
  • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
    A paper-and-pencil inventory that lets you examine your style of communicating, making decisions, and planning, and then relate your style to work environments.
  • Self-Directed Search
    A self-scoring paper-and-pencil inventory where you can learn about your interests, your job choices, and career.
  • Strong Interest Inventory
    A paper-and-pencil inventory that can show you how your interests compare to those of professionals in hundreds of occupations.
