The Joseph F. and Susannah Centorcelli Scholarship for second-semester sophomores in English who are permanent residents of Clarion, Jefferson, and Venango counties.
WHAT IS IT?
The Centorcelli Scholarship for second-semester sophomores is an award of $680. The scholarship is awarded in the junior year.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any English major with an overall QPA of at least 2.5 who is a permanent resident of either Clarion, Jefferson, or Venango county is eligible to apply.
HOW AND WHEN DO I APPLY?
To apply, you will need to complete the application form on the back of this sheet, including your QPA information and a prose narrative discussing your academic interests and future goals. You will also need to submit a recent sample of critical or creative writing, which may be taken from a class paper. Applications are due Feb. 26, 2010.
WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I'VE WON?
The department will notify recipients of the award by the middle of April, 2010. Keep in mind that the Clarion University English Department has other awards to offer its majors. If you don't win this time around, there are more opportunities. Good luck!

Present second-semester sophomores, permanent resident of Clarion, Jefferson, or Venango County, majoring in English may apply for an academic scholarship for the junior year ($680).
To be considered an eligible candidate, you must:

be a second-semester sophomore majoring in English

have a minimum 2.5 QPA

submit, in typed form, one or more recent samples of critical and/or creative writing. If these are taken from class papers, reports, etc., the copies must be fresh and free of professor's comments

fill out the form at the bottom of this page

submit application materials to the English Department secretary. PLEASE BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL NAMES AND IDENTIFYING MARKS FROM THE PAGES OF YOUR WRITING SAMPLE.
