CONGRATULATIONS GRADUATES!!

The Arts and Sciences Dean's Office  would like to congratulate our SAC members who graduated in Spring 2009.

Check out what our graduates are doing now.

Emily Hoover -

"Deciding to go to graduate school was one of the biggest decisions of my life. I was accepted into two universities, and I decided to go with my first choice: Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. I was accepted into their graduate program in public history. [Public history is for those who want to enter a career in museums and/or archives.]
Graduate school itself has been pretty good. It's very similar to my senior year at Clarion - a lot of work, a lot of papers. It's not what I would call "hard", just time consuming. The professors are nice, and there are a lot of students. The main difference between Duquesne and Clarion is the city vs. the country. Grad school expects a little more out of you - you're almost treated as if you're a professional instead of just a student. I feel comfortable here, and grad school is working out well!"

Traci Karasinski -

"As a graduate of Clarion in May, I found myself initially unemployed. Within days after graduation, I was contacted by my former boss at a juvenile corrections facility asking me to return to my previously held job - Instructional Assistant for mathematics. As I have decided to defer my admission to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for one year, I saw this as a prime opportunity to gain more experience in the world of full-time work. I am currently enjoying the extra time I have with my family while not in school, but missing the structure of being a full-time student. Presently, I am in the process of applying for Emergency Certification in English Education to be able to better assist the facility and the youth I work with in the English classroom as well as in math. With my degree and the number of credits I acquired in various subject areas at Clarion, I should have no problem receiving certification. My future plans include attending IUP for graduate school to study Student Affairs in Higher Education in August of 2010. This degree will allow me to enjoy working with students, faculty, and staff at a college or university in any area of Student Affairs - Student Activities, Clubs and Organizations, Career Services, Student Justice, Counseling, and/or Administration. My experiences with Clarion have helped me to find my niche in this ever changing world as well as have a better understanding of what I can and should expect of myself."

Mary Loveless -

"I am currently attending law school at New England Law in Boston. I was just elected as the 1L representative for the Student Bar Association. I am also a member of the Irish American Law Society, and we are currently focusing on public law issues by working in the community with individuals who do not know their legal rights. Boston is a great city, but I do miss Clarion!"
