Clarion University-Venango Campus will host the Veteran Center Van on March 9 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Representatives will review services available for eligible veterans and their families and make necessary referrals to VA-sponsored programs. Anyone who has served in an active-duty war zone is eligible for services.

Services include individual, group, marital and family counseling; medical referrals, assistance in applying for VA benefits and services, employment counseling, guidance and referrals; and alcohol/drug assessments and referrals. It also includes information and referrals to community resources, sexual trauma counseling and referrals, community education and bereavement counseling for eligible family members.

Veteran Centers serve veterans and their families by providing a continuum of quality care that adds value for veterans, families and communities. Care includes professional readjustment counseling, community education, outreach to special populations and the brokering of services with community agencies. The centers provide a key access link between the veteran and other services in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Mobile Vet Centers exist to provide access to returning War Zone Veterans via outreach to the demobilization at active military bases and National Guard and Reserve locations. The Erie Vet Center is responsible for the geographic areas of Crawford, Erie, Mercer, Venango and Warren Counties, as well as Ashtabula County in Ohio.
