Clarion University's Career Services Center maintains information on a variety of volunteer and community service opportunities in our Volunteer Connection program. Whether you're a first-time or experienced volunteer, we recommend that you take the following steps:
| Step 1. | Register to volunteer. |
| Step 2. | Review the list of current volunteer opportunities. |
| Step 3. | Report your service hours. |
| Step 4. | Apply for recognition. |
Step 1: Register to Volunteer
Students and University employees may register to volunteer for one-time or on-going volunteer activities online through the MyActivities database found at www.clarion.edu/myactivities.
Step 2: Review the List of Current Volunteer Opportunities
The Career Services Center serves as a clearinghouse for information on volunteerism, community service and service-learning opportunities. Over 100 agencies, civic groups, service organizations, businesses, and special programs are registered with the Career Services Center.
- Agency Listing
- Career Experience category
- Interest Area listing
Students and University employees may express interest in activity by calling or e-mailing the agency contact person to obtain additional information or make arrangements to assist with the posted project, event, or volunteer experience.
- Agencies Accepting Donations
The above link displays a listing of items that can be collected or donated to agencies. Before conducting a collection drive, please contact the agency contact person to verify that there is still a need for the goods. Collection drives must be approved through the Office of Campus Life prior to being held on-campus. A solicitation permit must be obtained from the Clarion Borough and Zoning office (call 814-226-7707) before holding a collection drive in the community.
Step 3: Report Your Service Hours
It is suggested that volunteers (students, employees, and organizations) report service within a week of its occurrence. By reporting service, you can develop a record of your service activities to complement your resume, portfolio or scholarship applications. Many student organizations include service transcripts with their Senate Budget Requests. Also, your efforts will be recognized in campus, State System, and national reports.
