The Clarion University Office of Finance and Administration has provided an update on the major construction projects underway at Clarion University.
Dormers on the roof have had glass installed and the stairwell poured. The AC unit has been moved into place and the transformer is now ready to be energized. For the Interior, kitchen equipment is now being installed. The gas meter has been installed and, along with the water, will be connected to the building this week.
Pedestrian/Vehicular traffic and safety: Work on an active trench across 9th Street has blocked much of traffic in and around the roadway between Carrier and the new dining-hall. As the work which will finish this roadway and the north side of the building continues, vehicles and pedestrians are encouraged to avoid this area, instead using the east entrance to reach lots 5, 6 and 8.
The brick installation on the northeast section and east sections of the building are nearing completion as brick installation on the southeast front section of the building is also progressing.
Interior plumbing, HVAC, electrical construction continues in all areas.
The contractor has finished the exterior of the Northeast section of Building #4. Work continues on the upper sections of buildings 1 and 4.
Venango Campus – Venango Pond
Much of the current work involves testing and surveying to ensure that the embankment and slopes are conforming to DEP requirements. Bridge footers should be installed this week, which will allow trenching for lighting.
Venango Campus – Rhoades Locker Room
This project continues mostly in the demolition stage. New plumbing fixtures drain connections are being installed in the walls. Work had to stop for a short time, to finish abatement of any remaining hazardous materials but now can continue full scale.
