>How can I find out who my advisor is? By using the iClarion Portal, you can log in and use Student Services to gain access to Web For Students. Once in Web For Students, go to the Student Records tab. Once there, you will find a link that will show your advisor’s name. Use the campus phonebook to find the office location and telephone number of your advisor. You can also call (814) 393-2000 and ask for your advisor's office number.

>What happens if I repeat a course? When you repeat a course your grade is replaced with the new grade you earned, as long as you improved. If you had an E and earned a better grade, you will receive your three credits. If you had a D and earned a better grade, you will not earn any more credits, as you have already earned the three credits.

>How can I drop a class? During the drop/add period, check the Registrar’s website for dates, you can log in to the iClarion Portal and use the Student Services tab in the portal to gain access to Web For Students. Once in Web For Students, go to the Registration tab. Under the Registration tab you will find Drop and Add Classes. Once here, you will see a list of courses you are currently taking. Use the drop down box under the Actions heading and choose “drop” option and hit submit. Verify that the class has been dropped by checking your student schedule.
If the drop/add period has ended, you will need to withdraw from the course. Withdrawals can be done up until a certain date in the semester, usually about 10 weeks into the semester. Consult the Registrar’s website for this date.
To withdraw, see your advisor or stop into the UASC office to pick up a form for withdrawal. Keep in mind, you are only allowed to withdraw from FIVE courses while you are at Clarion University.

>What do I take next semester? Your major will truly determine what courses you need to take for the next semester. Stop by your advisor’s office, come in to UASC to pick up a checksheet for your major, or consult your degree audit found on Web For Students in the iClarion Portal. This will help you understand what courses you could take. If you have more specific questions on what general electives to take, stop in UASC to make and appointment to discuss answers and direction on these choices.

>How do I change my major or add a minor? Prior to changing your major or adding a minor, you should seek advisement with your advisor or UASC. You can obtain the Change of Status form from any Dean's Office. The Change of Status form should be submitted to the Dean's Office of the new major. If you want to add a minor, you should submit the form to the Dean's Office of the new minor. The Dean's Office staff will assign new advisors then distribute copies of the form to the proper offices. The change should appear on your degree audit within a few weeks.

>When do I register for next semester? You should receive an e-mail before the registration period beings telling you what time and date you will be able to schedule. This information is also available through Web For Students. By logging into the iClarion Portal and going into the Student Services tab, you will find the link to Web For Students. Once in Web For Students, go to the Registration tab and look for Registration Status. Select the correct term (for example, Fall 2009) and you will be given information about your registration status, which will include your registration date and time.
Please note that this time and date is NOT an appointment with the UASC office or your advisor. Call (814) 393-1879 or your advisor's office number to make an appointment to discuss your registration options before your assigned registration time.

This will list any possible holds you may have. Along with the holds will be information on what to do to get rid of the hold.

Once in Web For Students, go to the Registration tab and look for Drop and Add Classes. Select the proper term (for example: Fall 2009), and you will be able to fill Call Numbers into the empty boxes. Once you have input all your call numbers for the courses you would like to take, you hit submit. Courses you were able to register for will be listed in the center of the page. Courses that you were unable to register for will be located at the top with an explanation as to why these were not added.

>What is a degree in Liberal Studies? The B.S. in liberal studies is a major program designed to provide (1) a structured program that encourages students to explore a diversity of academic skills and disciplines, (2) a program of study for students who have not decided upon a specific school or major, and (3) an option for students who have a desire to create their own major program. It is not necessary for students who enter the university undecided about a major to continue in liberal studies through graduation. Many students who begin in the liberal studies program interests that lead them to declare a specific major.
