The Honorable John E. Peterson, PA Fifth Congressional District

Congressman John Peterson plans to retire at the end of his current term, bringing to a close 40 years of distinguished elected public service, including service at the local borough council level, in both chambers of the Pennsylvania Legislature, and twelve years in the U.S. House of Representatives. As the representative of the state's largest and most rural district, Congressman Peterson has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to enhancing educational opportunities, nurturing regional economic development, improving access to health care, and supporting other quality of life issues that reflect the values of Clarion University.

For his outstanding record of public service, Clarion University will award Congressman John Peterson the degree Doctor of Public Service, honoris causa, at its Winter 2008 commencement ceremony.
