Initiated in 1967, the Master of Library Science program was the first of its kind in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Now, 40 years later, Clarion University combines its academic tradition of excellence with online technology to meet you where you live and learn.
The faculty who work alongside you in the M.S.L.S. program are strongly committed to traditional library science education. Through their diverse professional backgrounds and research expertise, they can prepare you for a range of emerging careers in librarianship.

Taking classes at our Pennsylvania locations
The graduate program in library science is offered at three sites in Pennsylvania: Clarion, Harrisburg and Philadelphia. The MSLS, the school librarian/MSLS and the Certificate of Advanced Studies are available at all sites.
Clarion location information - Provides a face-to-face environment for those individuals who wish to complete their programs on either a full-time or part-time basis. If you wish to be a full-time student, you should begin your studies in the fall semester. If you wish to attend part-time, you may begin in any semester. Face to face courses follow a once per week schedule. Select electives are offered online.

Harrisburg location information - Classes are offered at the Dixon University Center and provides a face-to-face environment for those individuals who wish to complete their programs on a part-time basis. All classes in the program are available to Dixon Center students in either a classroom setting or online. You may begin taking classes during any semester. Face to face courses are scheduled on three weekends across the semester/term -- Friday night from 6:00 to 9:45 P.M. and Saturday from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Select electives are offered online. Check the Registrar's schedule for the class dates.

Philadelphia location information - Classes are offered at both the Philadelphia Free Library and at the Cheney University Urban Education Site and provides a face-to-face environment for those individuals who wish to complete their programs on a part-time basis. All classes in the program are available to Philadelphia students in either a classroom setting or online. You may begin taking classes during any semester.
