Spring 2011: An Approach to Community and Institutional History

Course Description:
This course will introduce students to the art of community and institutional history. Specifically, students will learn the techniques employed by professional historians to explore the history of an institution and how it relates to, and integrates within, the surrounding community. Utilizing archival, print, and oral history resources, students will work towards producing an inclusive history of Clarion University as it relates to the town, the commonwealth, the U.S., and the world. Students will also collectively work on developing an Internet site to display their research and inform the community.
