Releasing Final Grades

By default, students are only able to view individual grade item values in the Grades area. They cannot see their final grade until the instructor "releases" them. This can be done anytime during the term. To allow students to see the Cumulative Grade (Final Calculated Grade) for the current semester you will have to choose to "release" the Final Calculated Grade in D2L.

First, verify that your grade book is set to Release the "Calculated Final" grade. Click on settings on the upper right side of the page.

LTC_D2L_Nav

At the top of the screen, select Calculation Options.

Toward the bottom of the screen under Final Grade Released, make sure that Calculated Final Grade is selected, then click Save.

ltc_d2l_finalgrade4

To release your Final Calculated Grade so your students can see the cumulative semester score, go to  Assessments > Grades. In the default "Manage Grades" view, click the "more actions" drop-down menu next to the "Final Calculated Grade" item, then choose "Enter Grades." Alternatively, in the "Enter Grades" view, click the "more actions" drop-down menu next to the "Final Calculated Grade" column header and choose "Grade All".

Instructors may choose to "release all" which will release the grades of all students on the page. Just place a check-mark in the box above the list of names then choose the "Release/Unrelease" link.

If you want to release their grades on a student-by-student basis, instead of selecting the box above the list, just select the box beside the names of specific students and click the "Release/Unrelease" link.

On the screen that pops up, you must select Yes and all of the students final grades will be released.
