Editing Grade Items
1. Log into D2L and enter your course.
2. In the navbar at the top of the page, click the assessments link and select "grades."

4. Click on the name of the grade item you want to edit. Then make adjustments to the parameters on the Properties and Restrictions tabs.

Re-Ordering Grade Items
1. Log into D2L and enter your course.
2. In the navbar at the top of the page, click the assessments link and select "grades."

3. Access the Manage Grades area by clicking the manage grades option at the top of the page.

4. On the Grades List page, click the More Actions button at the top of the page and select Re-Order.

5.On the Re-Order page, use the drop-down menus in the Sort Order column to adjust the order of the grade items in your course. Click Save when finished.

Deleting Grade Items
1. Log into D2L and enter your course.
2. In the navbar at the top of the page, click the assessments link and select "grades."

3. Access the Manage Grades area by clicking the manage grades option at the top of the page.

4. On the Grades List page, click the More Actions button at the top of the page and select Delete.

5. Select the checkbox(es) next to the grade item(s) you want to permanently remove from your course. Then click Delete.

6. A dialog box will appear. Click Delete to confirm that you want to permanently delete the selected grade item(s).

New Grade Items
1. Log into D2L and enter your course.
2. In the navbar at the top of the page, click the assessments link and select "grades."

3. Access the Manage Grades area by clicking the manage page option at the top of the page.

4. On the grades list page, click the New button and select Item.

5. Select the type of grade item you want to create (Numeric, Selectbox, Pass/Fail, Formula, Calculated, or Text). For this example, we will use Numeric.

6. On the Properties tab, enter the name of the grade item and the points value. You can also set optional items such as grading or display options. When you are finished, click Save. Then move on to the Restrictions tab.

7. On the Restrictions tab, you can set date and time restrictions for your grade item. If you choose to use the Release Conditions feature, please see the Release Conditions page for instructions. Once you are finished on this tab, click Save.

Dropping Lowest Grade
1. Enter the class in which you want to drop the lowest scored assignment.
2. Select Grades from the toolbar at the top of the page.

3. Select the Manage Grades option at the top of the page.

4. Click New and select Category.

5. Name the category. Select the checkbox that says "Distribute points across all items." Choose the amount of points per item and the number of items to drop. Click Save.

6. Return to your Grades List (Manage Grades area).
7. Choose the grade items that will be placed under the category. Place a check in the checkboxes in front of them and click the double pencils.

8. Choose the category from the dropdown menus and click Save.

9. Click on Enter Grades.

10. Scroll to the location of your category in the gradebook. You will see gray exclamation points by the items in the category that were dropped for each student.
Releasing Final Grades
Note: Final calculated grades (semester cumulative) are NOT automatically visible to the student. As instructor, you should see total points / out of points in your grades view, but the students do not see their total points grade summary. You must release the grades in order for for the students to see their total points and/or or percent.
1. Select the course in which you are choosing to release the final grades.
2. Select Grades from the toolbar at the top of the page.

3. Click on settings on the upper right side of the page.

4. At the top of the screen, select Calculation Options.

5. Toward the bottom of the screen under Final Grade Released, make sure that Calculated Final Grade is selected, then click Save.

6. On the top part of the screen, select Manage Grades.

7. To the right of “Final Calculated Grade” you will see a drop-down arrow, click it and select the ruler icon.

8. Select student(s) whose grade you would like to be released and then hit the Release/Unrelease button below the class list box then press save.

9. On the screen that pops up, you must select Yes and all of the students final grades will be released.
