NOTE: the following process is for (1) faculty and staff who wish to send a mass e-mail to students and (2) students who wish to send a mass e-mail to faculty, staff and/or students. Faculty and staff may send mass e-mail to all other faculty and staff using the ALL-L listserve without submitting a request as outlined in the following procedure.
Mass E-mail Process
Twice per week during peak periods mass e-mail requests received during a given period of time will be combined into one digest e-mail. Peak periods will be approximately late August to early December and mid-January to early May. One digest per week will be distributed during non-peak periods.
- Messages received between 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday will go into the first digest of the week, which will be distributed on Monday morning.
- Messages received between 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday will go into the second digest of the week, which will be distributed on Thursday morning.
A total of four digests will be distributed each week during peak periods: two to students (Monday and Thursday); and two to faculty and staff (Monday and Thursday). Messages that are for both audiences will go into a student digest and a faculty and staff digest.
Information on Clarion University events will not be included in eDigest. The events will be added to the website calendar, http://www.clarion.edu/623/?qpfilter=59060. Each edition of eDigest will link to the website calendar for information on "Upcoming Events."
Who May Submit a Request?
Recognized student and university organizations as well as representatives of university programs and departments may submit a mass e-mail request by completing an online form at the following address: http://www.clarion.edu/56356/. On the form, you may note if the message if for a specific subset of an audience (for example, "All Education Majors"). This specific information will be included with the blurb in eDigest. Request for custom messages to a subset of the student population will be handled on an exception-basis and require seven (7) business days advance notice.
On the request form, you may note the particular audience within the requested title/subject line. Requests for custom messages to a subset of the student population will be handled on an exception basis and require seven business days advance notice through the e-mail request form.
Requests that violate the university's Acceptable Use of Technology Resources Policy -- http://www.clarion.edu/46245/ -- will not be distributed.
