 Important Calendar Dates

Student Teacher Schedule Fall 2009

•  August 31, 2009- Student Teacher Orientation in the Gemmell Complex from 9 AM to 3:30 PM beginning with registration at 8:30 AM.

• September 1, 2009 - Report to First Assignment

• October 23, 2009 - End of First Course/Placement Assignment.

• October 26, 2009 - Begin Second Course/Placement Assignment.

• October 26, 2009 - All Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Social Studies majors, including dual majors beginning their Elementary Education assignments WHO HAVE NEW SUPERVISORS IN THEIR SECOND PLACEMENTS will meet their NEW supervisors from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Stevens Hall.  Watch for the signs. This will be one of the required supervisor meetings for the second half of the student teaching experience. Those student teachers who have the same supervisor for both placements may be excused from this meeting by their supervisor.

• Sometime in either October or November (check the Clarion University Career services website) - IF APPROVED BY BOTH THE UNIVERSITY STUDENT TEACHING SUPERVISOR AND THE COOPERATING TEACHER, student teachers may attend the Slippery Rock University Education Job Fair on the SRU campus.  This is an excused absence from your placement for the day. 

• December 16, 2009 - Last Day of Student Teaching.

Graduate Secondary Teacher Certification Methods Calendar

Full methods field experience placement begins - Monday, November 2, 2009.

Full Methods field experience placement ends Friday, November 20, 2009.

Methods/Block/PDS Field Experience  Schedule Fall 200

• First Friday Block - October 23, 2009

• Second Friday Block - October 30, 2009

• Full Block begins - Monday, November 2, and ends Friday, November 20, 2009.

Professional Development School (PDS) Elementary Block programs at Brockway Elementary School and at Laurel Elementary School begin August 31, 2009 and continue until November 20, 2009.  Students will schedule a minimum of 5 hours per week with their Cooperating teacher until November 2, at which point each student will follow the regular block schedule.  The student will then return to the same cooperating teacher for the spring student teaching experience.

• April 2010 (DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED) - All all student teachers are expected to attend the Clarion University Education Job Fair on campus.  This is an excused absence from your placement for the day.  The University Supervisors and Cooperating Teachers are aware of this Teacher Fair.  If you choose NOT to attend this job fair, you MUST report to your placement.

• May 5, 2010 - Last Day of Student Teaching.
