CALENDAR for the Academic Year

Important Calendar Dates

 TB testing/Physicals at Keeling Health Center

  • 1st week of semseter for Birth-4
  • 3rd week of semseter is CSD & Rehab
  • 4th week of semseter for Mid Level-Secondary
  • TB testing only Monday and Tuesday 9:00-11:30/1:30-3:30
  • Physical schedule during TB testing

FBI Finger Printing

  • January 25th and January 26th at Stevens Room 212
  • 9:00-3:00

Student Teaching Paperwork Information

The final cut-off date is:

June 30th for Student Teaching in the Fall Semester

January 15th for Student Teaching in the Spring Semester

 All of the following information must be updated and on file in the Office of Field Services before you are able to student teach.

  • Current physical and TB test
  • Clearances Act 24, 33, 34, 151
  • Liability Insurance ($1,000,000)
  • Praxis test taken or Seat Ticket showing that you are registered for the needed test before student teaching.

 ** If any of these informational items are not current or in the Office of Field Services by the given dates you will need to complete your student teaching experience the following semester.

Student Teacher Schedule Fall 2012

  • August 27 

    • Student Teacher Orientation in the Gemmell Complex from 9 a.m. To 3:30 p.m. beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m.

  • August 28 

    • Student Teachers Report to First Assignment

  • TBA 

    • Professional Development Day- Gemmell multi-purpose room: Attendance is required

  • October 5 

    • Contact should have been made with the second placement cooperating teacher. Please provide this teacher with your informational letter.

  • October 19 

    • End of First Course/Placement Assignment for Student Teachers.

  • October 22 

    • Student Teachers Begin Second Course/Placement Assignment.

  • October 22 

    • All Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Social Studies majors, including dual majors beginning their Elementary Education assignments WHO HAVE NEW SUPERVISORS IN THEIR SECOND PLACEMENTS will meet their NEW supervisors from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Stevens Hall. Watch for signs. This will be one of the required supervisor meetings for the second half of student teaching experiences. Those students who have the same supervisor for both placements may be excused from this meeting by their supervisor.

  • Sometime in either October or November (check the Clarion University Career Services Website). IF APPROVED BY BOTH THE UNIVERSITY STUDENT TEACHING SUPERVISOR AND THE COOPERATING TEACHER, student teachers may attend the Slippery Rock University Job Fair of the SRU campus. This is an excused absence from your placement for the day.
