The Foundations area in the Department of Art is designed to give students the basic framework for artistic expression and to introduce them to the professional world of art. It includes four studio courses and two art history courses—one of which serves as a freshman seminar course each fall (ARTH 110).
After completing all of the foundation courses, students pursuing a B.F.A. or a B.A. degree must pass a foundation review to continue in the program.
Studio Art Minors choose from two of the four studio foundation courses (ART) based on their area of study and ARTH 110.
