Education Majors

UPDATE: ACT 24 is now a required clearance for all pre-service teachers. More information about this clearance can be found at Clearances- FBI- Act 33- Act-34.

Block Students

  • October 31, Monday block begins
  • November 30, Wednesday block ends
  • Letter of Introduction
    All teacher candidates, who are entering block must complete this form and return it to the OFS, 102 Stevens Hall, before beginning Stage 3 Field Experiences.

 

  •  Student Teaching Paperwork Information

The final cut-off date is:

June 30th for Student Teaching in the Spring Semester.

Janurary 15th  for Student Teaching in the Fall Semester.

 All of the following information must be updated and on file in the Office of Field Services before you are able to student teach.

  • Current physical and TB test
  • Clearances Act 24, 33, 34, 151
  • Liability Insurance ($1,000,000)
  • Praxis test taken or Seat Ticket showing that you are registered for the needed test before student teaching.

 ** If any of these informational items are not current or in the Office of Field Services by the given dates you will need to complete your student teaching experience the following semester.

College of Education and Human Services students seeking teacher certification are required to pay a state established $100 fee for certificate application which used to be collected in the Field Services Office.

 Beginning with Spring 2012 Semester:

  1. All students who register for student teaching are required to pay a $100 state certification fee. (e.g. when the students registers for student teaching as: 6 credits of ED 424 and 6 credits of ED 425, he or she will have to pay this fee). 
  2. This fee will be collected by Pennyslvania Department of Education through the TIMS program. (Click here to access TIMS.)
  3. This fee will no longer be handled by any component of the University.
  4. Field Services Office staff will continue to compile the certification list and compare it to the TIMS database to ensure all requirements for their ceritification have been meet.
  5. Any student who has not paid or met their requirements will be notified that their certification will not be fulfilled. 
  6. The students who need to access TIMS are enrolling in ALL SECTIONS OF:

ECH 424 Early Childhood Student Teaching

ED 432 Student Teaching in Music

ECH 425 Early Childhood Student Teaching

ED 433 Student Teaching in Music

ED 421 Modern Language Student Teaching

EDML 423 Library Practicum in Elementary School

ED 423 Library Practicum in Secondary Schools

EDML 424 Middle Level Student Teaching

ED 424 Secondary Student Teaching

EDML 425 Middle Level Student Teaching

ED 425 Secondary Student Teaching

SPED 450 Special Education Student Teaching

Student Teachers

  • Download and complete the Teacher Candidate Profile form:
    •  Bring one copy for your University Supervisor to the Orientation Meeting
  • Janurary 16th Contact Cooperating Teacher  
  • Janurary 23th Student teacher orientation in Gemmell Multi. purpose room
    • 830am-1230am
    • Meet with supervisors 1-?
  • Janurary 24th, Tuesday 1st placement beginnings 
    • February 27th, Monday Contact 2nd Cooperating teacher
  • March 16th, Friday 1st placement ends 
  • March 19th, Monday 2nd placement begins 
  • May 9th Last day for Student teachers 
  • May 12th Graduation
