Minor in Speech Communication
A minor in speech communication will aid students in exploring the various skills and practices of communication such as interpersonal and group discussion. The minor requires students to take 18 credits in communication studies. An advantage of the Department of Communication's minor in speech communication is the flexibility it allows students in choosing their required courses for the minor. Students are able to pick from a variety of courses within communication studies ranging from group discussion to cross cultural communication to communication and gender. Courses such as small group decision making trains students to be able to assist in making group decisions. Other courses such as nonverbal communication increases student awareness in the areas of nonverbal communication. Upon completion of the minor in speech communication, students will have gained the knowledge needed to enhance their communication skills.
