Coursework provides students with a broad-based foundation through applied courses in communication skills and theory. More specifically, the coursework covers public relations theory, media relations, writing, cases and campaigns, professional ethics and law, leadership, and related principles of advertising and marketing. Upon completion of the certificate, students will be qualified to work as public relations assistants, managers, and executives.
While the certificate can be earned as a stand-alone credential, all of the PR Certificate courses can be applied to fulfill requirements in the MMAJ Master of Science degree. With careful planning, you can incorporate the courses required for the PR Certificate into the M.S. degree program and complete both programs within the total 36 credits needed for the master's degree.
