his year each scholarship will have its own electronic application form for the Department of Communication scholarship awards. Please review the criteria carefully.  Submit one hard copy of your completed application to: Scholarship Committee, Department of Communication, 130 Becker Hall, Clarion University of PA. If you wish to apply for more than one scholarship, make sure to submit a separate cover sheet for each, and submit only one Extra-Curricular Worksheet and Applicant’s Statement. Also, please attach only one copy of the first page of your degree audit.

 

Scholarship Descriptions and Criteria

Canelos Scholarship: The amount and number of awards for each scholarship fluctuates annually depending on available funds. Previous awards ranged from $350 to $550. A scholarship in memory of alumnus Canelos is offered annually to a communication major who has earned between 64 and 110 credits. Eligibility requires a minimum 3.4 QPA. Final selection is made by department faculty on the basis of academic record, contribution to the Communication Department and the university, participation in extracurricular activities, and financial need.


Cole Scholarship: The amount and number of awards for each scholarship fluctuates annually depending on available funds. Previous awards ranged from $350 to $550. A scholarship in honor of James D. Cole, the former dean of the School of Communication, is offered annually. Directed toward second semester undergraduates (15-32 credits) majoring in Communication with at least a 3.0 QPA. Final selection is made by department faculty on the basis of academic achievement, involvement in the Communication Department and community service.

Offered annually by the department faculty on the basis of academic achievement (at least a 3.0 QPA), involvement in the Communication Department and community service.

 

Mary Hardwick Scholarship: Students concentrating in Communication Studies (and are not graduating seniors) with a QPA of 3.0 of higher, who have participated in performance activities through the department, and demonstrated active participation in the life of the university are encouraged to apply for this scholarship.

 

William D. Greenlee Scholarship: On behalf of Greenlee Partners and to honor the memory of William (Bill) Greenlee, the PASSHE Foundation will award 2 ($2,500 each) scholarships to qualifying students for the 2013-2014 academic year. Eligible students are required to meet the following criteria: full-time student at one of the 14 PASSHE universities, focus or major in political science, journalism or communication, earned at least 60 college credits (or more), a GPA of 3.0 or higher, financial need.The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. Students who meet the eligibility requirements and are interested in being considered for this scholarship should submit a complete application to the PASSHE Foundation by May 31.
