Online Non-Degree Prerequisite Sonography Program
Students attending a hospital-based sonography program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP) through the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Songraphy (JRCDMS) are required to complete college-level course work in mathematics, physics, communication, and human anatomy and physiology. Clarion University's on-line non-degree prerequisite sonography program enables students to complete most of the required course work by taking convenient on-line classes.
Courses required for Clarion's online non-degree prerequisite sonography program may be taken before or during enrollment in the individual's hospital-based sonography program of choice. However, before enrolling in Clarion courses, individuals should first consult with the program director of the hospital-based sonography program that they hope to attend. The program director will be able to provide information on any unique program specifications regarding general education and/or prerequisite course requirements.
Completion of post-secondary general education credits, such as those in Clarion's online non-degree prerequisite sonography program, may demonstrate academic adeptness and thus facilitate formal acceptance to a hospital-based sonography program. However, completion of Clarion University's prerequisite sonography program does not guarantee admission to a hospital-based sonography program.

When Can I Take Classes?
Clarion University has a total of six academic sessions/semesters in which course work may be completed. There are two traditional 15-week fall and spring semesters. There is also a three-week academic session in May (Summer I) followed by two five-week summer academic sessions (Summer II and Summer III). Additionally, there is a three-week academic session over the Christmas and New Years holidays (Winter Intersession). (Please note that not all courses are offered in each academic session/semester.)
Summer and winter academic sessions are condensed and are therefore intense. Completion of course work during these academic sessions requires a great amount of work in a short period of time. However, condensed academic sessions allow students to earn credits quickly. Attaining one's academic goals through Clarion University may therefore be significantly expedited by enrolling in courses year-round.
