Medal of Honor recipient's father to speak to ROTC Tuesday

Article Body

Thomas McGinnis, father of the late Army Specialist Ross McGinnis, the second soldier to receive the Medal of Honor in Iraq will speak about the meaning of Veterans Day to the Clarion University ROTC cadets, Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in Thorn II.

Following the formation by the color guard and the singing of the U.S. National Anthem by Cadet Michael Johnson, McGinnis will deliver his address on service to Country in room 142 of Becker Hall.   Following the presentation, he will observe the training of the cadets in front of Thorn II.

Ross McGinnis was from Knox and was killed in action on Dec. 4, 2006, in Iraq, when he threw himself on a live grenade saving the lives of at least four other soldiers.

A moment of silence will also be held for those who died in the Ft. Hood shooting.

Former service members and students who currently serve in the National Guard and Reserves are also invited to attend.
