Parameters for article:

            Grants up to $1,000 are now available through the Clarion University Community Fellows Program. These grants are available for projects by Clarion and Venango Community Organizations in conjunction with a tenure or tenure-track Clarion or Venango faculty or staff member.

            Projects must be completed between Nov. 1, 2009, and Dec. 31, 2010. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, Nov. 25. Completed applications, not to exceed four pages, should be submitted to Rose Logue, 103 Carrier Administration Building, Clarion University or e-mail to:  rlogue@clarion.edu.             Clarion University and its Venango Campus recognize the importance of strengthening their public mission and wish to instill and celebrate the value of partnering with community members, and non-profit organizations. Proposal ideas and categories include:  people and communities, economic development, local government finance and administration, community service, natural resources and environment, rural values and social change, education outreach, and health and welfare concerns. Clarion University will award grants up to $1,000 to community partners who propose a project in conjunction with a tenured or tenure-track faculty member or full time staff member.

            Criteria include:

            •Demonstrating substantial contribution to the Clarion and or Venango Community.

            •Projects, which have not previously received funding will be given high priority.

            •Contribution to the public service mission of the University and if applicable involve Clarion University and or Venango Campus full-time students.

            •Projects, which are incorporated into a course will be given high priority.

            •Award recipients will be expected to submit a final report to Faculty Research and Development Office, 103 Carrier within 60 days of the completion of the project.

            •Projects involving students will present at either the Undergraduate Student Research Conference or the Graduate Student Research Conference held in April 2010.

            The Office of the Provost, working collaboratively with the Clarion University Foundation Advisory Committee, will award the project grants. Selection will be based on:  merit, feasibility and organization of the proposed project - plan and budget not to exceed four pages; applicants' and faculty or staff member's training, credentials, and expertise to carryout the proposed activity; impact of project on community served; future plans for sustaining the program; and impact on community and university relationship.
