Clarion University's Chamber Singers, directed by Dr. Hank Alviani, associate professor of music, will perform for two Catholic Latin High Masses in November. The first will be at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Fryburg, Saturday, Nov. 7, at 5:15 p.m. The second will be at St. Bernadette Church, Saegertown, Sunday, Nov. 8, at 11:30 a.m.

            The Chamber Singers will perform "Missa o quam gloriosa" (O How Glorious) by Renaissance composer Tomas Luis de Victoria (c. 1548-1611), plus Latin motets "Jesu rex admirabilis" by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (c. 1525-1594) and "Ave Maria" by Jacob Arcadelt (c. 1505-1568).  In addition they will perform "Salve Regina" by Los Angeles composer Paul Gibson, a modern setting in polyphonic Renaissance style of the chant melody of the same name.

            In the Mass at St. Bernadette, Alviani will also chant all of the Mass Propers for the Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost.

            Members of Chamber Singers include sopranos Constance Anderson, Caitlin Boyle, Mary Fahringer, Lynnea Fiorentino, Rebecca Hofmann, Melissa Lang, Jennifer Tame, Trisha Vamosi, and Danielle Watt.

            Anderson, a sophomore music education major, a granddaughter of Martha Anderson of Kane and a graduate of Kane High School.

            Boyle, a senior music education major, is from Clearfield and is a graduate of Clearfield High School.

            Fahringer, a junior biology major, a daughter of Joann Fahringer of Catawissa and a graduate of Southern Columbia High School.

            Fiorentino, a senior music education major, a daughter of Dan Fiorentino of North Apollo, and a graduate of Apollo-Ridge High School.

            Hoffman, a sophomore English major, is a daughter of Kimberly Hoffman of Meadville and is a graduate of Meadville High School.

            Lang, a freshman liberal studies major, a daughter of David and Nancy Lang of Harmony, and a graduate of Seneca Valley High School.

            Tame, a sophomore music education major, a daughter of Floyd and Sherrie Tame of Rochester, and a graduate of Rochester High School.

            Vamosi, a freshman secondary education/English major, is a daughter of Barb Vamosi of Sharpsville and is a graduate of Sharpsville High School.

            Watt, a sophomore music education major, a daughter of Frank and Barbara Watt of Kittanning, and a graduate of Elderton High School.

            Altos Marissa Coffey, Jena Gruver, Amanda Hershey, Marian Mills, Barbara Osborn, Katie Rogers, Cami Shumaker, and Nikki Toy.

            Coffey, a senior psychology major, is a daughter of Judy Wolfe of Erie and is a graduate of McDowell High School.

Gruver, a junior music education major, is a daughter of Sheldon and Gina Gruver of Fairmount City and is a graduate of Redbank Valley High School.

Hershey, a freshman music education major, is a daughter of Kurvin and Roseann Hershey of Coudersport and is a graduate of Northern Potter High School.

            Mills, a sophomore library science major, is a daughter of Andrea Mills of Spring Mills and is a graduate of Penns Valley High School.

Osborn, a sophomore music education major, is a daughter of Lisa DelVecchio of Millville and is a graduate of Millville High School.

            Rogers, a sophomore information technology/mathematics major, is a daughter of Richard Rogers of Seneca and is a graduate of Cranberry High School.

            Toy, a daughter of Dede Toy and the late Dennis Toy of Kossuth, is a senior in cyber school.
