“Global Faces” is the theme for Clarion University’s annual International Cultural Night, scheduled Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Gemmell Student Complex Multi-Purpose Room. The program is sponsored by the Clarion International Association and is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to defray the cost of food preparation.

            Seventy students from 35 countries are enrolled at Clarion University for 2009 Fall semester, and this program is a way of sharing cultures from around the world with the greater Clarion community.           

The program will feature traditional dances, vocal performances, international fashion parade, and other cultural presentations from the various regions of the world:  Africa, East Asia, South Asia, Europe, The Americas and Caribbean, and the Middle East. 

A variety of international foods will be available following the program to allow those attending to sample cuisine from around the world.

            Officers of the Clarion International Association Executive Board for the 2009-10 year are:

            President – Abhijit Shinde from India, who is majoring in international business.

            Vice President – Dayan Edirisinghe from Sri Lanka, who is majoring in information systems with a minor in art.

            Treasurer – Tanzoom Ahmed from India, an undergraduate student majoring in English.

            Secretary – Shray Kandhari from India, who is majoring in molecular biology/biotechnology with a minor in business administration.

            Advisor – Linda Heineman

             The Office of International Programs staff includes:  Dr. Jocelind Gant, Assistant Vice President for International Programs, Linda Heineman, International Student Advisor, Lynn Hepfl, ISEP Coordinator and NESA Undergraduate Program Mentor, and Dr. Raymond Feroz, International Programming and Study Abroad Coordinator.
