7-27-09 Construction updates for the week are provided below.

 

Parking/Roadway Obstructions

Hart Chapel

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

The Hart Chapel parking lot will be closed all day Wednesday, the 29th to accomodate attendees for the memorial service for Dr. Still in the Walter Hart Chapel and reception immediately following in Carlson Library. 

Science Technology

       & Davis Hall

Thursday, July 30, 2009 – Thursday, August 6, 2009

Due to the need to move and stabilize a large crane to place solar panels on the roof of the new Science-Technology Building, the parking lot northeast of Davis Hall and associated roadway may be closed for intermittent or extended periods for a one-week period starting Thursday, July 30th.  The main delays are expected on Thursday and Friday.

Peirce and Chandler Demolition

Roadways and sidewalks may be diverted around the Peirce and Chandler demolition sites.  Please use extra caution around these and all construction sites.

Gregory Barnes Biotechnology Business Development Center

The Gregory Barnes Biotechnology Business Development Center at Clarion University has completed concrete pours for the slab and upper floor decks with side panels and stairs under construction and glass panels being installed.  The building will be available for its first occupants in mid October.  The entire building is 23,295 square feet on three floors with a prepared ground pad to add three more 20,000 sq.ft. pods to the building as its activities expand in the future.

 

The Gregory Barnes Biotechnology Business Development Center is a project of the Clarion University Foundation constructed with donated funds, state redevelopment funds and rental payments from its occupants.

Venango Campus – Residence Suites

The Venango Apartment project, added a 2-story and a 3-story building to our 3 already there, providing accommodations for 89 students.  As the contractors finish the interiors, and extend the parking lot, these buildings, will be turned over to the Foundation on August 11, 2009.

Clarion Campus – Science-Technology Building Construction

    

This past week in the auditorium, the drywall install completed and the walls were primed then painted.  The ceiling grid arrived on Thursday and the installation immediately began.  The general contractor is planning on working over the weekend of July 25th to patch and level the auditorium floor in preparation for the carpet installation which is planned for the week of July 27th.   

 

In the planetarium the wall finishing and painting of the walls continued focusing on completion before the end of August.

Clarion Campus – Peirce Demolition

The demolition of Pierce continued this week with demolition starting from Campus Drive and working toward Davis Hall.  Dust created due to the demolition is being kept in check by a water spray on the portion of the building being demolished.

 

Chandler Demo 072709 

 

Clarion Campus – Chandler Demolition

Asbestos removal finished inside the building with clearance from the abatement inspector.  Chandler was removed from the campus electrical power grid by late Friday, July 24th. with demolition of the building is planned to begin the following week.  The project remains on schedule.
