Welcome to the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Clarion University. Our faculty and staff are here to provide you with the highest quality instruction. They are dedicated to their students – available through office hours, individual instruction, e-mail, and phone contact. You will always receive the attention you require.
Our Language Lab is state of the art with a computer station for each student. Software allows you to record your oral assignments for the instructor to assess. We have open hours for language practice and lab use.
Many varied language courses are available at Clarion University. Additional courses are available through our ITV language course agreements with area universities, including courses in Russian. To register for an ITV course, follow this link for the Distance Ed Application, which must be turned in to the department office at 202 Davis Hall.
The French, Spanish, and German courses are listed in the CU Undergraduate Catalog. Checksheets will show you what courses you need for each language major or minor.
Study abroad opportunities are available each summer. You can study in Ecuador, Lille, France, or Bamburg, Germany. University credit is available for overseas study.
Various scholarships are available for French, Spanish, and German language students. Professors have additional information regarding scholarships.
