A degree in communication offers a variety of opportunities for students in an exciting and rapidly expanding field. Communication professionals make it happen through the Internet, television, radio, print, and in face-to-face settings. As a Clarion University graduate, you will be prepared to enter a range of rewarding careers in this expanding field. The department offers both undergraduate as well as graduate studies. Students can complete a B.S. in Communication, the online M.S. in Mass Media Arts and Journalism, or both! There is also a communication concentration in the online B.S. in Liberal Studies program. We also offer an online Graduate Certificate in Public Relations.
The Department of Communication offers students a unique blend of broad-based communication and writing skills while studying in specialty areas such as advertising, broadcasting, communication studies, corporate communication, film, journalism, and public relations. Furthermore, students can get hands-on experience while working for the department organizations including CU-TV The Nest, WCUC-FM The Clutch, The Clarion Call newspaper, and student magazines. While in school, students will also have a chance to network with communication professionals through student chapters of associations such as the International Association of Business Communicators, the National Communication Association, the Society for Collegiate Journalists, the Public Relations Student Society of America and more.
